“the-unpopular-opinions”, lols at the order of the day.
Shit let’s use what I learned in AP Human Geography.
The only reason the English language became so popular in America was due to colonization. Then there was immigration. You’re wondering why immigration back then didn’t cause everyone to know every language ever? It’s due tot he fact that most other citizens from other countries learnt English. Why? Because they needed to communicate with England with trade. So when people moved here at first, they were somewhat familiar with the language. Now we’ve got Latin America and Mexico moving in. While a large majority of resources were exported from both countries, the people in Mexico and other Hispanic/Latin American countries are lower class and never taught the language. As for learning it when they move to the US, they really do try. Do you know how complex, unnecessary, and difficult it is to learn English from another language? Extremely. But people still learn it. Mind you, there are those who don’t know English but it only takes a small number of people to stand out against a large mass. I had a Cuban bus driver when I was in middle school who spoke English, yet everybody said she couldn’t. It’s not her fault her accent is thick. While I understand how frustrating it can be, there’s no need to be an ass about it. You don’t see other kids/adults from other countries complaining.
